PLAX INDICTED BY GRAND JURY

A Manhattan grand jury indicted Burress, but not former teammate Antonio Pierce:

New York City prosecutors say a grand jury has indicted former New York Giants Plaxico Burress on weapons charges.

Prosecutors say the indictment charges the 31-year-old Burress with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of reckless endangerment.

At least he has a good role model in Michael Vick to watch and learn how to get back on an NFL team.

BANDWAGON GIRL OF THE WEEK: JAQUELYN

Apperantly she’s a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and she has threatened to beat me up.  First off, I would never lose to a girl, unless it was on purpose, I don’t always wanna be on top.

TMZ HAS THE MYSTERIOUS LBJ VIDEO

We can’t embed the video so you have to click here.

It’s a really grainy video and you can’t see much.  Definitely more hype than anything.  LeBron definitely ends up looking like an idiot making Nike steal the other videos.

NASH SIGNS TWO YEAR EXTENSION

Sources have told ESPN that Nash is accepting the Suns two year extension offer worth an estimated $22 million.

The Suns offered Nash a two-year, $20 million extension two weeks ago in addition to the $13.1 million he’s owed next season, then bumped it higher in a meeting in Las Vegas last Wednesday attended by Suns owner Robert Sarver, president of basketball operations Steve Kerr and Nash’s agent Bill Duffy.

Nash is expected to announce his decision via his twitter today.

I hate twitter and I hate this extension.  Can someone explain to me why you pay an aging point guard who has never proven himself in the post season?

I DUNKED ON LEBRON T-SHIRT

LeBron can walk around in his witness and LBJ-MVP t-shirts all he wants because Jordan Crawford can walk around in this:

Order yours here.

IS LEBRON THE NEW FREDERIC WEIS?

LeBron James is his own highlight reel.  Soaring dunks, no look passes, game winning shots, we’ve seen it all from LBJ.  The one thing we won’t see is Xavier’s Jordan Crawford dunking on the King at the LBJ Skills Academy.

FROM CBSSPORTS:

Turns out, there were at least two cameras rolling Monday night when Crawford dunked on James during a pick-up game here at the LeBron James Skills Academy. It was a two-handed jam, the kind that would’ve circulated quickly on YouTube. But Nike officials eliminated that possibility shortly after the dunk happened by allegedly confiscating tapes from various cameramen.

Worth noting is that there is no policy against filming at the LeBron James Skills Academy, and Miller said he had been filming all day without incident. Nobody ever told him to stop. Nobody ever said there was a problem … until after Crawford dunked on James.

We already knew that LBJ was a poor sport but the fact that he went to a Nike official and told him to confiscate the tapes brings him to a new level.  A two handed dunk over the King and none of us are going to see it.  What a shame.

Update: Jordan Crawford talking about the dunk:

BANDWAGON GIRL OF THE WEEK: ROBYN

Ok, we switched it up a bit and added a little flavor (not a bleach bottle blonde) don’t get lost in Robyn’s eyes because there is no road map to get out.  Enjoy, vote for Robyn if gorgeous is your type.

PEANUT GALLERY: UFC 100 AND ALL THE GOINGS ON IN MMA

Here’s a little MMA goodness for you courtesy of The Greg One:

Like every MMA fan, I am really looking forward to UFC 100 on July 11. Every match on that card looks awesome. The only question is which establishment is going to get my meal money so I can view this event among the masses? The match I am looking forward to most is Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir for the undisputed heavyweight title. Mir’s belt is a title in name only. Lesnar took the fight to UFC Hall Of Famer Randy Couture to earn his strap. All Mir did was beat a gassed Antonio Nogueira to get his hardware. I have been a Lesnar fan since his days in the WWE. He was awesome then and he’s more awesome now. Too much has been made of his getting his title fight in his fourth match. When you bring to the table the credentials Lesnar brings, you give him his shot. The man was the 2000 NCAA wrestling champion and two-time NCAA All-American. He only lost five times in his four years at University of Minnesota. When you couple that with the fact NFL teams were looking at him for his athletic ability and the fan base he brings from WWE, who wouldn’t take a chance on this potential golden goose? Brock’s only MMA loss was to Mir and that was due to a simple rookie mistake. Lesnar knocked Mir down with his first punch and was laying the beatdown on Mir until he got up to switch position and left his ankle unattended. Mir showed why he’s a feared submission specialist catching Lesnar in the anklelock for the win but The Greg One guarantees Mir will get the beatdown that’s coming to him this time around.

Don’t hate on Brock. His status is already cemented by beating Couture and smashing Heath Herring’s orbital bone with his first punch. No heavyweight can deal with Brock’s power and freakish speed. If he ever adds submissions to his game he will be the greatest heavyweight champion ever. A Brock rear naked choke might kill a man. Seriously. Brock is going to own the heavyweight division in a way no one has seen. Mark my words.

Much love goes out to Lyoto ‘The Dragon’ Machida for laying that country azz whuppin’ on Rashad Evans. Rashad is fun to watch. He has great hands, great mat skills but his arrogance was his downfall. Some fighters may get sucked in and angered by all the dancing and showboating but what happens when you encounter a fighter who not buying what he’s selling? You get what happened against Machida. Evans bobbed and weaved, head faked, shoulder faked, hip faked and did so much dancing you totally expected to see a Soul Train line form behind him. Machida watched and waited patiently and when Evans finally got the clue Machida wasn’t having any of it he attacked and was beaten like a snare drum. The last minute of the fight Machida brought back flashes of a young Mike Tyson smashing some tomato can into the mat as Machida showed his pinpoint accurate, rapid fire punches. The only thing missing was Chris Tucker’s ‘Smokey’ character from the movie Friday jumping over Rashad’s unconscious body and shouting “You got knocked da FUGGOUT!!”  I saw Machida beat Sokoudjou but he really won me over by crushing Tito Ortiz in Tito’s UFC exit match. Machida hits but he doesn’t get hit. He may be the only man who can successfully employ that style and for that reason he will hold that title for quite a while. Rampage Jackson was next in line but i’m sure after witnessing the destruction of Evans he ran for the security of The Ultimate Fighter reality show. Shogun Rua is up next and will go down next. Long live Machida as champion!

I was disappointed to see Urijah Faber go down in flames to Mike Brown in the rematch. After breaking his hand in the second round of the five round fight we all knew he wasn’t likely to get his gold back. The heart and effort he put forth in those last three rounds was amazing. All he had was his left hand and both elbows to work with. With all that working against him he had a chance to win in the final round but couldn’t secure the rear naked choke because of the damage and pressure he had to apply to his own broken hand to make the move work. As someone who has had to endure a broken hand he’s earned my respect even more. It hurts to move your hand a fraction. Searing pain runs from the injury through your entire arm. Making a fist is pure agony with a broken hand. Still, Faber gutted it out and although he lost, who wouldn’t love to see that fight a third time?

Although I am a huge fan of ‘The Iceman’ Chuck Liddell and Matt Hughes, I think it is time both of them hang up the gloves. Looking forward to Varner vs. Cerrone 2, not because Varner is a Bandwagon favorite, but after watching the first fight the second is bound to be a barnburner. The smack alone has elevated this fight to Hughes/Serra levels.
Cain Velasquez looked awesome at UFC 99 but it didn’t look like he has a solid chin. If Congo had kept the battle on the feet I think he would have finished Velasquez but for some reason he was bound and determined to wrestle. Congo rocked Velasquez multiple times with solid punches. Shouldn’t cornermen point these things out? That’s what they’re for..supposedly. Anderson Silva is likable but looks to be going through the motions lately. His last fight was downright boring. GSP comes across as a pretentious jerk and (Matt Hughes aside) his competition has been lacking. I hope they both lose so they regain the killer instinct they’ve lost. I predict Michael Bisping beats Dan Henderson at UFC 100 and Stephan Bonnar wins sending Mark Coleman back into retirement. So let it be written, so let it be done. See you all in front of the big screen.

2010 PHOENIX SUNS DRAFT CLASS

14.  EARL CLARK  -  SF  -  6′8 220  -  LOUISVILLE

Analysis: The combo forward can score inside and out and will defend.  One of the most NBA ready players coming out of college there are however questions about his focus and intensity.

48.  TAYLOR GRIFFIN  -  SF  -  6′7 230  -  OKLAHOMA

Analysis: He can’t compare to his brother, but then no one else in this draft can, either.

Nothing here to get too excited about except that the Suns didn’t blow the 14th pick.  I’m not sure what it is with the Suns and drafting the worse siblings but apparently that’s their style and they’re sticking to it.  It will be interesting to see what the rest of the offseason brings, mainly the trade of Amare to Golden State for a bus load of kids including Steph Curry.
